Sonya Palazuelos, AMFT is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist at Clinicas del Camino Real, Inc. She is dedicated to providing Mental Health Care Services to the patients of Ventura County. Sonya earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business from California State University Channel Islands and later received her Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from California Lutheran University.

Sonya is skilled in group therapy, behavioral therapy, crisis intervention, child and family counseling, and cognitive behavioral therapy. She is equipped to meet the specific needs of her patients and tailors her therapeutic approach to best support their individual goals.

Her approach is rooted in empathy, collaboration, and empowerment. Sonya believes in meeting youth where they are, recognizing their strengths, and helping them build the skills needed to navigate life’s challenges. She is committed to supporting young people through family conflict, emotional regulation, school-related difficulties, and identity exploration. Her goal is to guide them toward self-awareness, resilience, and meaningful connections with others.

Over the years, Sonya has learned that working with adolescents requires patience, flexibility, and authenticity. She approaches each interaction as an opportunity to foster trust and model healthy relationships. As a clinician, her vision is to continue growing as an advocate for youth, helping them not only manage their struggles but also discover their potential and purpose.
