  4. Media: Teach your child to critically evaluate media messages and images. Talk about how most photos in the media are photoshopped. As well as how these images make unrealistic pictures of beauty. Help them to seek out diverse representation in media. Specifically, media that highlights positive role models who embrace different body types.
  5. Positive Self-Talk: Teach your child to challenge negative thoughts. Show them to replace them with positive affirmations. Have your child focus on their strengths, accomplishments, and inner qualities. This is healthier than focusing only on what they think their flaws are.
  6. Healthy Environment: Have open communication and create a safe space. This way your child feels comfortable expressing their feelings. Listen actively without judgment and validate their feelings. Offer support and love. Along with letting them know that their worth is not based on what they look like.
