Duties

The DBA reports directly to the Sr. Manager of Application and Database. The DBA will provide the expertise in SQL Server. The DBA performs troubleshooting, maintenance and optimizing of existing applications and databases. The DBA also develops, tests and supports new applications, interfaces between applications and databases. The DBA must attain in-depth knowledge of the applications and operational workflows. The DBA works with other IT members to evaluate and recommend solutions to complex problems and requests.

Responsibilities

  • Build database systems of high availability and quality depending on each end user’s specialized role
  • Design and implement database in accordance to end users information needs and views
  • Define users and enable data distribution to the right user, in appropriate format and in a timely manner
  • Use high-speed transaction recovery techniques and backup data
  • Minimize database downtime and manage parameters to provide fast query responses
  • Provide proactive and reactive data management support and training to users
  • Determine, enforce and document database policies, procedures and standards
  • Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy and integrity
  • Monitor database performance, implement changes and apply new patches and versions when required

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field required
  • Understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices
  • Working knowledge in T-SQL creating complex stored procedures and views
  • Proven hands-on technical experience with Microsoft Business Intelligence tools such as SSAS/SSIS/SSRS/SSDT and other visualization tools such as Tableau, and power view
  • 2+ years working experience in developing ETL process and SQL programming skills
  • An ability to be a self-motivated, high performance contributor
  • Able to effectively work with ambiguity and incomplete information
  • Ability to work with a minimal amount of direction while being pro-active in keeping their management informed of project related issues
  • Able to work well with people from all level within organization. Ability to respectfully question ideas and share a point of view with others in support of the business requirements and needs
  • Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changes in priority
  • An excellent team player and willing to assist and train other team members to accomplish common goal
  • Consistently demonstrate forward thinking
  • Strong aspiration to learn new technologies
  • Experience with Claim Adjudication system and database is a plus
