The ACSW/AMFT provides patient-centered care addressing mental health conditions to individuals and families. Works with a multi-cultural population of diverse socioeconomic backgrounds and ages in a multi-disciplinary healthcare environment. Works under the guidance and supervision of Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, Licensed Psychologists, and the Director of Mental Health Services. Supervised hours of experience are provided by a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage Family Therapist, or Licensed Psychologist to meet the pre-licensing accrual hours necessary for licensure in the Associate’s related field under jurisdiction of the Board of Behavioral Sciences.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Associate Clinical Social Worker/Associate Marriage and Family Therapist is responsible for performing the following duties:
- Clinical service can include: Initial intake, assessments, brief therapy, crisis evaluation, phone triage with patients and referrals to appropriate services.
- Interviews and evaluates patients for psychosocial, emotional and developmental needs.
- Completes clinical assessment including bio-psychosocial, Outcome Measures, GAF and/or additional inventories with patients to assess their strengths and needs.
- Completes diagnosis using DSM-5 criteria.
- Provides mental health services including individual and family therapy, crisis intervention for patients with mild to moderate conditions. Provides appropriate referrals for patients with severe mental illness. Treats patients of all ages including children, adolescents, adults and seniors.
- Develops and updates treatment plans to help patients meet treatment goals following current standards of practice.
- Maintains clinical documentation utilizing electronic health records.
- Maintains fidelity of evidence-based treatment protocols.
- Adheres to required mandatory reporting, including Tarasoff, Child and Elder abuse
- Maintains Clinicas’ standards of productivity; required schedule and billable units of service.
- Works collaboratively with Clinicas team members and medical providers, healthcare educators, social services agencies and community organizations to coordinate outside support services on behalf of the patient.
- Participates in the peer review process for Mental Health Clinicians.
- Due to the nature of the job, may work with or be exposed to information or material of a sexual nature.
- Participates in in-person or virtual supervision on a weekly basis
- Performs other duties as assigned, including participation in all safety programs which may include assignment to an emergency response team.

- Must have a Master’s degree in Social Work or Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy.
- Must be currently registered as an Associate Clinical Social Worker or Associate Marriage and Family Therapist by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS).
- Must demonstrate excellent assessment skills; be self-directed, efficient and effective in problem solving.
- Ability to handle multiple demands and objectives. Must have strong time-management and organizational skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Proficient with use of computers.
- Communicate effectively in writing and orally.
- Ability to speak both English and Spanish is preferred.
- Current CPR certification is required.
