A happier and healthier future is growing as more and more people follow the basic COVID-19 precautions. The coronavirus pandemic has helped us better understand the importance of washing our hands regularly, carrying a sanitizer when a sink is not available, and always remembering to cover our nose and mouth while coughing and sneezing. Remembering to wear a mask and maintaining 6 feet of social distance from others will help keep ourselves and others safe. As people from all across the world are anxiously waiting for life to return to pre-pandemic normalcy there is hope on the horizon. We cannot let our guard down from getting and spreading this disease!

Vaccines are one of the most important tools in winning the war against COVID-19. The COVID-19 vaccine(s), by Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson, are a great way to boost your body’s natural immunity from contracting the virus; early indicators show us that these vaccines are effective at preventing COVID-19 illness, disease and death. Experts have estimated that 70 to 90 percent of the population will need to acquire COVID-19 resistance for us to reach herd immunity and cause the transmission of the virus to a halt. This is close to what would be needed to stop an outbreak of measles today. So when it’s your turn do your part, roll up your sleeve, and get the vaccine!

The quicker we can reach the goal of herd immunity against the coronavirus the quicker COVID-19 and its variants will become more like the seasonal flu. Still a concern, but not something that would result in another global pandemic. By limiting the spread of all coronavirus strains we can reduce the severity of the illness for those who do contract it while protecting our loved ones from ever getting it. There has been a lot of confusion, misinformation, and misunderstandings about the COVID-19 vaccines. Clinicas del Camino Real, Inc. is here to answer your questions, ease your anxieties, and remind you that vaccinations are an important part of family and public health.
