JOB OBJECTIVE

The Human Resources Generalist (HRG) works under the general direction of the Human Resources Manager and in partnership with the Human Resources Team. The Human Resource Generalist will perform human resource related duties by partnering with employees and management to communicate various policies, procedures, laws, standards, and government regulations. The Generalist will promote equity, fair treatment, and positive employee relations and ensure compliance with state and federal employment laws.  The HRG will provide comprehensive HR support, pro-active issue/problem identification and resolution, and coaching and development for more effective leadership decision and communication skills. The HRG should be able to work independently but requires additional support and guidance with complex and significant issues. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides guidance to management and employees on human resources issues, talent development, and employment law
  • Support initiatives to meet management needs.  Generate solutions and implements with input from more senior HR teammates.
  • Support the development and execution of HR initiatives to enhance employee engagement and organizational effectiveness 
  • Assure company policies are administered fairly and consistently throughout the area of responsibility.   Effectively communicate and execute necessary changes to policies and procedures.
  • Perform employee relations functions including support and counseling regarding personnel and job-related conflicts, problem solving and dispute resolution, managing employee performance issues, review and assessment of termination requests.
  • Assist in organizational change initiatives and EDI efforts
  • Analyze data and recommend corrective action and continuous improvement to the management team.  Respond to staff relation issues/concerns.
  • Interpret HR policies and procedures and engage subject matter expert contacts as needed for support
  • Recommend new approaches and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed. 
  • Assist in development and facilitation of management training as it relates to staff/management development.
  • Will leverage technology to work efficiently and provide ongoing feedback to process improve.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge and ability to effectively interpret and apply local, state and federal, employment laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of, and proficient in the use of personal computers and a variety of standard business software programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and HRIS systems.
  • Ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve issues by using judgment that is consistent with organizational standards, practices, policies and procedures, regulations, and government law.
  • Ability to objectively coach staff members and management through complex, difficult, and emotional issues. 
  • Ability to research and analyze various types of data and information.  Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.  Ability to organize and problem solve.  Ability to develop rapport with a wide variety of individuals.
  • Ability to effectively perform job duties under a high level of activity and a variety of conditions and restraints.
  • Ability to meet and comply with HIPPA/Confidentiality policies and procedures.
  • Ability to be detail-oriented and multi-task.  Ability to follow written and verbal directions and to complete assigned tasks as scheduled.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English and understand basic math.  Ability to demonstrate predictable, reliable, and timely attendance.
  • Skill and ability to demonstrate professional business etiquette. Skill in interpersonal relationships with emphasis on reaching out, being friendly, and showing courtesy. Excellent communication skills. Bilingual English/Spanish a plus but not required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and proactively analyze and resolve problems.
  • Certified as SPHR or PHR preferred.
  • Former experience with employee and/or labor relations, ADA/FMLA & leave management, training facilitation preferred.
