Chief Operations Officer

Clinicas del Camino Real, Inc.

Anna B. Monroy, MS

Anna Monroy, MS, has a compelling narrative that was shaped by unwavering commitment and resilience. Originating in South Texas and navigating the landscapes of central Mexico in her early upbringing, her journey crosses boundaries that start from a childhood spent as a migrant farm worker, to an educator and ultimately to a leading healthcare professional.

Anna’s early life was marked by following the harvest seasons, involving transitions between numerous elementary schools, high schools, and states. This continual adaptation to diverse environments and learning a new language defined her formative years, and also laid the foundation for the resilient and versatile leader she would become.

I’ve been exposed to a lot of different perspectives and cultures, due to migrating between different states. Every experience helped me build to where I am today.

With the support of the College Assistance Migrant Program, higher education became a possibility and  Anna   began that journey at Michigan State University, where she pursued her academic goals from 2001 to 2005. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Sociology, with a minor in Chicano/Latino Studies. The time spent at Michigan State influenced Anna’s  future as she began developing the core skillsets that now define her as committed leader with a passion for making a positive impact.

Following her time in Michigan, Anna obtained her teaching credential at the University of Texas Pan-American, marking a crucial step in her career. With her diverse educational background, she returned to her community and served as a bilingual educator for immigrant English Language Learners.

Anna's teaching career became a significant chapter in her life, where she applied the knowledge and skills acquired. Her ability to connect with students and understand their unique challenges, particularly those from migrant farmworker backgrounds, underscored her effectiveness as an educator.

Being able to serve the community, work with students who mirrored my own background, and had similar challenges was very rewarding.

As an educator, Anna achieved extraordinary recognition at the age of 27 by the Texas State House of Representatives. She was recognized by the Eighty-Second Legislature by way of Resolution 674; Bill Title: Honoring educator Anna Villanueva. A remarkable acknowledgment tracing her journey from a migrant farm worker to an educator returning to serve and impact her community. Her family's participation in a documentary film with Dateline America Now: Children of the Harvest added weight to the recognition, serving as a testament to her impressive educational journey and the unparalleled work that propelled her to a well-deserved recognition.

Anna’s transition into the health sector and Clinicas del Camino Real, Inc., came from the desire to continue serving and impact change.  At Clinicas she has served in various roles and after pursuing and receiving a Master of Science degree in Management, Strategy and Leadership from Michigan State University, she stepped into  her current role as Chief Operations Officer.
