Sandra Alvarado, PhD, is a dedicated and compassionate Psychologist and Mental Health Director at Clinicas del Camino Real, Inc. Dr. Alvarado has been an integral part of the Clinicas team since 2012. She began her academic journey at the University of California, Santa Barbara, in Santa Barbara, California, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She continued her education at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, obtaining a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy. She then pursued her Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute in Carpinteria, California.

As a licensed psychologist since 2011, Dr. Alvarado brings over 2 decades of experience in mental health, having worked in a variety of settings, including schools, psychiatric hospitals, and community clinics. At Clinicas, she provides individual, couples, and family therapy to children, adolescents, and adults. She specializes in working with individuals diagnosed with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and adjustment disorders, utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to support clients in improving their emotional and behavioral health.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Alvarado coordinates services with other medical providers and staff at Clinicas and connects her patients with community resources to ensure they receive the comprehensive care they need. Dr. Alvarado is passionate about serving a diverse population and takes pride in being part of a team that provides care to underserved communities.
