CLINICAS DEL CAMINO REAL, INC. CELEBRATES NATIONAL HEALTH CENTER WEEK 2013 THROUGHOUT VENTURA COUNTY

August 11-17th, Clinicas del Camino Real, Inc. will host events in honor of National Health Center Week (NHCW)! These events are part of National Campaign which celebrates the record of success demonstrated by America’s Health Centers.

Clinicas invites the Ventura Community to join them for a Health Fair at Del Sol Park, in Oxnard, on Sunday August 11th from 10am-3pm. Clinicas will offer free health screenings including cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure, vision and more. The remainder of the week, August 12th-17th, the Ventura Community can visit any of Clinicas’ Health Centers throughout the County and participate in many of the FREE activities being offered. Clinicas hopes to raise awareness about the mission and accomplishments of America’s Health Centers as local solutions.

The theme of this year’s NHCW is “Transforming Health Care in Our Local Communities,” to underscore how Community Health Centers provide access to affordable, high quality, cost effective health care to medically vulnerable and underserved people throughout the United States. One of the bright spots in America’s health care system, Community Health Centers have been in existence for over 45 years and have compiled a significant record of success by:

  • Reducing income and ethnic health disparities nationwide, even in the poorest and most challenged communities
  • Producing $24 billion in annual health system savings
  • educing unnecessary hospitalizations and unnecessary visits to the ER
  • Generating a system of preventive medicine that patients use regularly to stay healthy, thus saving lives.

Health centers serve more than 22 million people nationwide, and are increasingly becoming the trusted provider of choice for many families, whether they are insured or not. Evidence shows that patients choose health centers because they are convenient, affordable, and offer a range of services from a team of caring professionals. Studies also show that the quality of care at a health center is as good or even better than private practices.

“The services we provide onsite such as primary care services, pediatrics, pharmacy, dentistry, and mental health services, allow our patients to get the care they need under one roof and in a place where they are treated as individuals, with dignity and respect” said Antonio Alatorre, Acting CEO. “This is what health care should be: simple and patient-centered. Public health improves when the gateways of affordable primary health care open to more people. This is what is meant when we talk about transforming our health care delivery system, and shifting the emphasis from disease management to prevention. As someone who works on the frontlines of health care, I invite you to come see the transformation taking place at a Clinicas Health Center. In your backyard is where the work of transforming health care has already started, for the good health of everyone.”
